  • Pinch Technique

    "Pinching ceramics is usually the first thing taught in a beginning pottery class because it requires very few tools and is a great way to get familiar with the properties of clay and the process of making ceramics. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make sophisticated pottery forms with the pinch pot technique. In fact, the beauty of the pinch pot technique is that the only limiting factor is your imagination."-Ceramics Daily

    In this workshop you will be introduced to forming vessels with your hands. This technique is great for all ages and our instructors have beginner to advanced levels of pinch pot techniques.

  • Coil Technique

    Coil pots are made by a forming method that uses rope-like coils and then assembled to build up walls of the vessel or sculpture. This technique is great for all ages and can be used to advance your pinch pots. The instructor will introduce you to the 11 different forms of coils you can use to make your coil vessels.

  • Slab Technique

    Slab hand building is a ceramic technique that involves forming clay into shapes by hand, rather than using a potter's wheel.It's the oldest method for making clay items, such as plates and pots.Slab building is a good way to create flat, geometric shapes, like triangles, that are difficult to make with other methods. This technique is great for all ages from beginner to advanced shapes. The instructor will introduce you to many different vessels and shaping techniques.

Studio Policy

-We ask after every class or session the student is responsible for putting away their work on their designated storage shelf.

-All pottery tools used by students will be asked to wash and put them away.

-All students using the wheels will be asked to clean the wheel after use in designated wash bucket.

-Stoneware Clay takes 5-7 days to dry, we ask that you book your painting class 5-7 days after wheel throwing/ hand building class

-The nature of clay is unpredictable, we are not responsible for any damaged work created by students or nature. We will do our best to moderate your process so that damage will not occur.

-No borrowing tools or supplies from the studio to take home.

-All payments are made before class starts.

-No refunds

-Cancelation Policy: if a customer cancels less than 24 hours before scheduled class, they are required to pay 20% of the total. 

-Shipping of students' work is available but students are responsible for paying shipping fees.

-Any studio damages caused by students will be 100 % responsible for payment of damaged equipment.

-NO negative talk about others is allowed.

-NO smoking inside, please smoke on our patio outside.

-HAVE Fun and create, create, create!

Membership Policy

Thank you for becoming a member at MK Ultra Artists Pottery Studio. When becoming a member we will provide education, clay, tools, and equipment needed for creativity.

We have created a studio policy for our members to sign so that there is a complete understanding of our policies. 

-Respect. We ask all members to respect the studio and the equipment. If any tools or equipment is damaged during member use; members are 100% responsible for payment replacement. 

-No shared shelves or membership hours (one person per shelf, per membership.)

-We ask that all members respect each other's space, tables and wheels.

- We ask that all members clean their pottery wheels and tools after they have finished using them. 

  • If members do not clean their pottery wheels, tools, or equipment; 1 Hour will be deducted from your membership hours.

-We ask that all members take responsibility for their pottery pieces. Please put your pottery pieces on your designated shelf. 

-MK Ultra Artists is not responsible for bagging, cleaning, and finishing members' pottery pieces before bisque firing(first firing). All members that have finished their greenware pottery please place your pieces in the kiln room on the designated shelf. 

-We ask that all members please call/text/email the studio before arrival. We have limited wheels and space. All members need to reserve their wheels at least 24 hours before arrival. 

-The nature of clay is unpredictable, we are not responsible for any damaged work created by members, nature, or the kiln. We will do our best to moderate your process so that damage will not occur.
